Yacht Photovoltaic Project

This yacht PV project supports the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department's cleaning vessels. The complete PV system has a total installed capacity of 6 kW, providing a deck-mounted solar charging solution specifically designed for marine sanitation vessels.

Ships operating for long durations in marine and near-shore waters for sanitation and cleanup face challenges with traditional generator-based power systems, including high fuel consumption, significant noise, and exhaust emissions. Despite abundant sunlight at sea, this solar photovoltaic (PV) system integrates PV modules on the ship's deck to harness solar energy efficiently. By converting sunlight into electricity, it serves as a supplementary power source, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

The system generates electricity primarily to power deck lighting on the cleaning vessel, while also sharing part of the ship's electrical load. This reduces the runtime of the main generator, lowers fuel consumption, and effectively cuts down on exhaust emissions and noise pollution, achieving green energy savings. The PV modules are designed for installation on ship decks and are specifically engineered to withstand complex marine conditions such as high salt fog, humidity, and wave-induced vibrations. With corrosion resistance, vibration tolerance, and waterproofing capabilities, they ensure reliable power generation in the ever-changing maritime environment, guaranteeing stable operation during both navigation and work activities.

After deployment, this project provides clean renewable energy to sanitation cleaning vessels. It meets onboard power needs such as deck lighting while reducing operational costs, supporting energy conservation and emission reductions for waterborne vessels. This represents a practical implementation of solar retrofitting for offshore working ships.
